Delbarton is governed by an elected Mayor and five-person Town Council. The Town Council meets at the Council Chambers of the Delbarton Town Hall on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 6 p.m.

Delbarton Town Council: Your legislative body
The Town Council is the legislative branch of Delbarton’s government, which has operated under a strong-mayor form of government since 1946. The Council’s primary functions are to approve the city’s general fund budget, adopt ordinances and resolutions.
Meetings
Unless the meeting falls on a legal holiday, Town Council meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month in Council chambers at Town Hall. Special meetings may be called at any time, with reasonable notice by the mayor, upon the request of majority of council.
City Council Rules
Council proceedings subscribe to Robert’s Rules of Order. Speakers, who are not members of Council are limited to five minutes on any permissible subject unless they are being questioned by a member of Council. Speakers are limited to three minutes when speaking on resolutions or ordinances unless they are being questioned by a member of council. The Mayor, however, may grant an extension of time to any speaker.
Membership
Town Council has 7 members, including the Town Recorder and the Mayor.
Terms
Town Council members are elected to four-year terms. The current term expires July 1, 2023.
Responsibilities
Council members serve in the following capacity for the town: Finance, Personnel, Public Works, Economic and Community Development, Public Safety, Recreation, Solid Waste Management and Planning and Zoning.
