Laurel Lake Wildlife Management Area – Laurel Lake Wildlife Management Area, a 12, 851 acre area located seven miles northeast of Lenore, West Virginia. Recreation features are fishing, paddle boat rental, hiking trails, hunting and playgrounds.
R. D. Bailey Lake – is a unit in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Ohio River basin flood control system. The 19,000-acre lake is located in the rugged Appalachian Mountains of Wyoming County, West Virginia. The dam helps to reduce flood damage along the Guyandotte and Ohio Rivers, and provides several recreational activities such as fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and picnicing.

Marshall University – Marshall University is a coeducational public research university in Huntington, West Virginia founded in 1837, and named after John Marshall, the fourth Chief Justice of the United States.
Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College – Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College is a member institution of the Community and Technical College System of West Virginia and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. Southern is an EOE, ADA, AA Institution.
