The Delbarton Opry House and Community Center came into existance because of a need. It had its begginings at the old Delbarton City Hall when Joe Crum and his brother Jack got together for “jam sessions”.
Bit by bit people came in to listen to the music, and maybe “cut a rug”, and before you knew it there was a considerable crowd. In winter some vacant storefront buildings in town were put to good use, and when summer came the show was moved outside to a vacant lot. It became a weekly event and grew in such popularity that it needed a permanent home.
Delbarton’s Mayor, John Preece, applied for a grant to build a facility, which was awarded. Thanks to the grant money and corporate donations, musicians first took stage in a new community building in May of 2003. It was named, The Delbarton Opry House and Community Center, but is locally known as “The Opry House”.
Every Saturday night, starting at 6pm, The Delbarton Opry House sponsors one of the best Country/Bluegrass shows around. It’s good clean family fun. Admission is FREE to the public.
